Mission 5 was launched on March 14, 2014 at 7:33 am from Anderson Valley High School.

Mission 5 Goals:

  • Capture HD video from the peak altitude.

  • Reduce camera fogging.

  • Send a collection of seeds to test the effects of high altitude radiation on seed germination.

  • Record solar and cosmic radiation data from high altitudes.

  • Record internal and external temperature data.

  • Recover the craft

The craft traveled 63.2 miles and landed near Jack London State Park in Sonoma County, California.  The craft carried a special passenger: a 3D printed Yoda that was created on our class printer.

We unfortunately experienced nearly a complete loss of data and experienced a camera malfunction before peak altitude, but not before capturing some amazing high definition video from around 75,000 feet.

The craft traveled to an estimated altitude of 90,000 feet.  More details to come as we analyze the flight path and footage.
